Ellen McMahon
Ellen McMahon is an Associate Professor of Art and Design in the School of Art at The University of Arizona. She has an MS in Scientific Illustration from The University of Arizona and an MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College. Her visual work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions Redressing the Mother at A IR Gallery in New York, Maternal Matter at Cal State San Marcos and in numerous group exhibitions including Fragmented Bodies: Identity or Violence, and Cleavage: an exhibition on the breast. Her work is in the artists' book collections of the Center for Creative Photography and The New York and Boston Public Libraries. Her essay "A Little Bit of Loss" can be found in Mother Reader: Essential Writings on Motherhood edited by Moyra Davey and her design practice is described in the book Clean New World: Culture, Politics, and Graphic Design by Maud Lavin. Her work has been recently featured in the essay "Maternal Rites: Feminist Strategies" by Andrea Liss in the international journal n. paradoxa. Vol 14, 2004 .
